A request to set a jury trial or contested non-jury merits trial in a family law case must include a representation that mediation was attempted and a mediator letter stating the case did not settle.

Attach the Standing Order to any petition in a divorce case or suit affecting the parent/child relationship, except petitions filed by a Texas state agency.

The Clerk must furnish the local rules to lawyers with county offices and to lawyers and pro se parties in civil actions, and keep an inspection-accessible record of deliveries and their dates.

A vacation letter does not excuse appearance at a hearing set before the letter was filed.

Communications to the Judge or court personnel concerning the merits of a pending or impending proceeding are prohibited and must be promptly rejected.

A party may contest the order by presenting evidence at a hearing on or before fourteen days after the original petition is filed; otherwise, the order continues as a temporary injunction.

Motions for continuance must comply with the cited Texas statutes and rules of civil procedure.

A written motion is required to set a hearing in a contested case.
