Court of Common Pleas of Washington County, Pennsylvania Filing Rules

All pre-trial statements must be filed with the Prothonotary.

Each party of record must file a Pretrial Memorandum within 180 days after filing the appeal, unless the Court enters a case management order.

The litigant must receive notice at least five days before the Praecipe for Withdrawal of Limited Appearance is filed.

The balance for a completed transcript is due upon delivery and must be paid using an accepted method payable to the County of Washington.

An electronic filer must identify required confidential or other security through the C-Track portal prompts when submitting the document.

A required signature on an electronically filed legal paper must use one of the stated scanned-image or electronic-signature methods.

A filing containing defined Confidential Documents must be marked confidential through the portal prompts when submitted.

A party may continue a scheduled arbitration hearing once by filing a praecipe for continuance with the Prothonotary and paying a $50 fee.

Responses and briefs are not required for motions, but a party may file a brief when it anticipates the Court will wish to consider one.

The objecting party must contact the Court Administrator’s office to order the transcript of the proceedings.

Copies of the objections and hearing petition must also be provided to the assigned judge and the Court Administrator-Civil Division.

The body of a brief is limited to 3,000 words unless the Court orders otherwise for cause shown; this rule does not apply to briefs supporting or opposing a motion for post-trial relief under Pa. R. C. P. 227.1.
