Court of Common Pleas of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania Filing Rules

A bill of costs must list trial witnesses, their statutory fees, and mileage origins, and must be verified under oath with a statement that the witnesses were material and necessary.

Accounts to be confirmed must be filed by 4:30 p.m. Eastern Prevailing Time on the fifth Friday preceding the confirmation date.

Within thirty (30) days of the date of service of the objecting party’s brief, the responding party shall file and serve a brief in accordance with the requirements of subsections (a)(1-4) of this rule.

Legal papers must be submitted for filing in PDF format.

Requests for new, previously untranscribed transcripts must be submitted through FTR Justice Cloud and include all elements required by the state court administrator’s form.

A transcript prepared in bound paper format costs the applicable electronic-format rate plus $0.25 per page.

Preliminary objections are decided on written argument unless oral argument is specifically requested; any granted oral argument is held off the record.

Cumberland County Prison will notify the applicable magisterial district judge that the notice was issued, after which the judge will cancel the warrant.

Family Court documents are confidential and may not be viewed by the public in the Case Management System without a court order.

Mediation does not delay required pleadings, ordered return dates, or court hearings unless all interested parties specifically request the delay by joinder and the Court orders it.

Briefs on preliminary objections are limited to 20 double-spaced pages unless the Court grants prior approval.
