Circuit Court of Alexander County, Illinois (1st Judicial Circuit) Filing Rules

After civil contempt is adjudicated, a written judgment must be promptly prepared and filed specifying the contemptuous conduct, sanctions, and means to purge the contempt.

When a matter is taken under advisement, the docket entry must direct the clerk to pull the file for the judge’s review within 30 days unless a decision has already been made.

Before filing a continuance motion, the movant must attempt to contact the adverse party, state their position in the motion, and provide written details of unsuccessful contact attempts or nonresponse.

A signed, file-marked judgment must be served on the contemnor, and proof of service must be filed.

All documents in civil cases must be electronically filed using a Supreme Court-approved system unless an exemption applies.

Attorneys and litigants who cannot appear because of the listed travel or health restrictions should contact the county Circuit Clerk where the case is pending.

Petitioners’ exhibits for evidentiary hearings must be marked with numbers and the case number.

Depositions filed under Supreme Court Rule 414(d) must remain sealed until the court orders them opened.

A $2.00 Dispute Resolution Fund fee is due from the party initiating a civil action when filing the first pleading, except for proceedings commenced by or on behalf of a unit of local government.

All motions in limine will be argued at the final pretrial.
